Whether you are printing cheap postcards or spending hundreds of dollars on postcard printing, the whole marketing angle for postcards revolve around four levels. In this article, I will teach you how to make your postcard printing work effectively in these four levels to increase your chances of success in marketing. Sounds good? Well then. Read on and start learning how you can make your marketing color postcards work.
1. Attention grabbing power – The first level in postcard marketing is “attention seeking” or attention grabbing power. Your color postcards must be noticed first, before any marketing can begin right? So you need a design feature in your color postcard that grabs people’s attention.
This of course is your postcard cover’s job primarily, but more than that it is the postcard’s overall look. So besides using an original cover that looks great, you should use a postcard with impressive materials and even a distinct color. For example, instead of the traditional white postcard with a white border, you might want to use a bright red postcard or a bright orange one. You may also try adding glitters or metallic inks to the postcard cover to make it even more intriguing. As long as there is that element that is out of the ordinary, those color postcards should grab attention.
2. Maintaining interest – The next level is maintaining the interest. After getting the attention of readers, you must then hook them to reading the print postcards by an interesting message. This is basically your marketing premise. So give them something that they want or something that then need. Show them that it is possible and that their needs or wants can be easily achievable.
Do this by inserting short but powerful phrases and sentences in your postcard cover, as well as the back portion of the postcard printing. Make sure that the message is related to your cover, and it is easily understandable. Try out different versions and test it on friends and family before choosing one for printing.
3. Memory retention – Thirdly, you must have a feature in your postcard that is memorable. After reading the postcard, people must be able to immediately recall your marketing postcard because there is a certain aspect to it that sticks. This can be a very poignant slogan, a very good marketing offer, or maybe just a cute or unusual logo. Always have at least one element like this so that people can remember your postcards easily.
4. Call to action – Finally, all marketing postcards have a call to action element. This is the element that basically encourages people to do something in behalf of the marketing postcard. This can be something like a “Call now!” message at the back of the postcard, or even a “visit us now” sign on the cover with your website URL. Make the reader do something so that they can immediately respond after reading your color postcards.
By combining all 4 of these levels and improving upon them, your color postcards should get doubly effective at getting your marketing message across. You’ll be able to sell more and promote more with these techniques. Good Luck!
